We have talked about Morning and Evening routines and I am looking forward to moving on to the next page in my Homekeeping Binder and that is the weekly routine. This sheet really has helped me to plan the whole week and see at a glance the industry that goes on in our home. This is a 20 minute task that will help in your daily scheduling. All you need to do is write down everything you need to do in a week. An example list would look like this:
Zone Cleaning (later post to come on this one)
Bible Study group planning
Women’s bible study planning
Personal Bible study/memory work
Lilla Rose business
Your list may be more specific (you may list out weekly errands), my children are grown so we do not have homeschool on this list anymore, or you may be less specific too.
Now I take a weekly calendar sheet and look at where the various activities need to be plugged in. Some are daily like my morning and evening routine and others are weekly.
This doesn’t mean every item is going to get done on that day (unless it needs to) but it is a help to focus your time and make the most of the time the Lord has given you. I am a list person and I know not everyone functions in the same way but to have a structure helps me to be productive during my day. I have enjoyed scheduling items like correspondence and computer time and many times I use a timer to help me not get distracted on the computer when it is not a work related task.
I keep this sheet handy in a three ring binder along with the morning and evening routine lists. Sometimes your weekly routine will change depending on the season of your life so you want to glance over it every few months and make adjustments when neccessary.
I am looking forward to going over zone cleaning on the next post and the help that has been especially in training my daughter to become a keeper of her home.
I encourage you if you haven’t started a homekeeping binder to do so. There are many excellent posts by other women on what to include in your binder. Over the next few weeks I will continue to lay out what is in my binder to give you an example of a simple homekeeping binder that is very funtional but does not require much maintenance and saves me a lot of time in my day.
