I am so thankful to have Jasmine from Thyme & Timber sharing her knowledge of herbs with us today.
Have you ever grown your own vegetable or herb garden? If you haven’t, you are really missing out! I have thoroughly enjoyed starting both my herb (medicinal) and vegetable gardens this year. To watch how our Creator can take a tiny little seed or seedling that we have planted and create a living, thriving plant is simply breath taking. And what is even more amazing, God created these plants with different nutrients and healing properties that we can greatly benefit from. I consider it a blessing to be able to watch herbs grow in my very own backyard and the reward of harvesting fresh, homegrown herbs for health and healing is definitely worth the effort.
- In your pan, heat your honey on a low heat until just warm. (about 2 min)
- Add your herbs to the pan with heated honey. Stir in and continue heating for 15-20 minutes.
- Pour the mixture into your canning jar, herbs and all, and seal. The herbs will continue to “steep” in the honey. If you prefer, you can strain the herbs before storing.
- Label with “Herb Name” Medicinal Honey, Date, and Use By. Store in cool, dry area.
Administer the herbal honey by the teaspoonful or tablespoonful, depending on the size of the person. If the honey solidifies in the cool, simply warm it up before use.
