The Homemaker’s Secret Time Saving Tool

The Homemaker's Secret Time Saving Tool - @mferrell

I’m sharing a secret that has helped me to come to the realization that most household chores that I think take FOREVER may not take longer than 10 minutes.

It’s a simple tool that you have already in your home but it is a tool that will help your efficiency and help you to accomplish more in less time.

What is it – A TIMER!

The Homemaker's Secret Time Saving Tool - @mferrell

What’s the secret power in it?

It keeps you focused on the tasks set before you and keeps you disciplined to finish them and then rewards you by letting you know you gained some extra time because the task took a much shorter time than you realized. (Say that run-on sentence in one breath!)

Don’t believe me? Try it! Set a timer that you already have in your home for 15 minutes (microwave, oven, kitchen timer or one on your phone) and see what you can accomplish during that focused time of no distractions.

No distractions means you do not check your phone, Facebook, make a phone call, text someone, watch TV or anything else that you might like to do when your procrastinating from dealing with chores set before you.

Put it to the test. Set it for 15 minutes and clean up dinner dishes or fold a load of clothes or dust and vacuum a room. You will be amazed at how little time these chores really take to do.

You will doubly be amazed at how much you can accomplish when you stay focused on the tasks at hand.

Take the 15 minute test and let me know what happened in the comments below.

A great tip! Being motivated by a time limit helps me get homework done too. It is amazing what you can get done in an hour if you are focused! Also, I love that apple timer! So adorable!

I think that apple timer is so cute too Bethany. Great tip on homework and setting a timer. We are in such a different world with so many distractions now that it is so good to discipline ourselves to be focused. I definitely need discipline continually in that area ;). Thanks for stopping by today :).
