6 Ways to Reach the Nations Next Door to You – @ERLC

Strangely, gospel work right here at home can seem more daunting than a two-week trip around the globe.

Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged by Your Own Crippling Standard – @The Blazing Center

It’s a terrifying thing to think of God judging me based on the way I judge others. So often, my judgment lacks mercy. It lacks compassion. And it lacks knowledge. Do I want to be judged by God and others with the same standard? No! That would be crushing. This is why Jesus warns about the dangers of judging others. If we’re not careful, we’re going to end up being judged by own crushing standards.

Learning the Language of Lament – @Borrowed Light

Because we have not been taught the biblical language of suffering we resort to the language of the world; namely, complaining and grumbling. Yet, God has graciously given us a language we can employ whenever our days are dark.

You Too – @Desiring God

Contrary to what culture would have us believe, the church — as guardian and proclaimer of the gospel of Jesus Christ — holds the only real remedy for the evil of violence against women. For it is the only thing that can change the inclination of a sinful heart.

For Your Bookshelf:

Your Best Year Ever: A 5 Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals by Michael Hyatt – I received an advanced review copy of this book, and I have appreciated Michael Hyatt’s encouragement to me in my personal goal setting through his blog and podcast, so I’m just digging into this one.

Search the Scriptures: A Three-Year Daily Devotional Guide to the Whole Bible by Alan M. Stibbs. I am so appreciative of this devotional and the way it keeps me in the Word daily and meditating on what I read. In three years you will read through the whole Bible and leave that day with meaning and application for each passage you read. I have a large spiral notebook that I write my questions and observations and prayers in to keep alongside with this book. It’s an excellent resource for busy moms to get substantial time in the Word daily. Put this one on your Christmas wishlist!

To Make:

Easiest Ever Pumpkin Pie Recipe – We tried this one this year for Thanksgiving and it was easy and yummy!

For Your Home:

Christmas Collection at Ever Thine Home – Every item is on my wishlist. I’m hoping to put together a Jesus tree in our foyer using the ornaments from their collection.

To Ponder:

“When a man thinks he has got a good deal of strength and is self-confident, you may look for his downfall. It may be years before it comes to light, but it is already commenced.”

~ D.L. Moody

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

~ Romans 12:3
