Homemaking Matters: Living for God’s Glory in the Ordinary
Friend, I’m so glad you’re here.
This book was written out of many years of life as a wife, mom, grandmother, and homemaker. The kind of days filled with the ongoing work of caring for a home and loving the people God has entrusted to me. Over time, the Lord has been faithfully teaching me something I am still learning:
What we do in our homes matters because it is done before Him and for His glory.
Homemaking Matters is meant to point us back to what God’s Word says about our work and our purpose. Scripture reminds us that whatever we do, we are to do it for the Lord, and that includes the daily responsibilities of home.
This book is about learning to be faithful in what God has given us, to find our joy in Christ, and to trust that He is using even our everyday work to grow us in holiness and to accomplish His good purposes.
Reading it was like sitting with a Titus 2 mentor over coffee.

What This Book Is About
Homemaking is more than a list of tasks or a never-ending to-do list. It is a calling given by God, with real purpose for His glory.
Homemaking Matters helps you see your home and your daily responsibilities through the truth of Scripture. God’s Word reminds us that whatever we do, we are to do it for the Lord, and that includes the work we do each day in caring for our homes and families.
In this book, you’ll be encouraged to recognize God’s hand in your daily life and to understand that your work matters to Him. You’ll be reminded to love and serve your family in ways that reflect Christ, to turn from striving and rest in His sufficiency, and to live each day with your eyes set on what is eternal.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
Colossians 3:23

“Homemaking Matters is a book brimming with truth and hope. Marci’s warmth emanates from each page as she highlights the joys and challenges of serving the Lord in our homes. Her humble transparency is refreshing, and her passion to extol the virtues of biblical womanhood is soul-stirring and inspiring. This book is a treasure every Christian woman should read.”

“Not since J.R. Miller’s 1882 book Home-Making has there been such a serious and biblical treatise on keeping the home as Marci Ferrell’s Homemaking Matters. Written in a style that balances grace with truth, Marci elevates the ‘matter’ (no pun intended) of homemaking to its proper theological plane, reminding readers that no task is ever to be considered mundane that is undertaken for the glory of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 10:31).”
Darrell B. Harrison
shepherding and teaching pastor, Redeemer Bible Church, Gilbert, AZ
“Marci Ferrell casts a beautiful vision for homemaking as a joyful and Christ-centered calling. With warmth, biblical conviction, and years of wisdom, she makes you feel as though you’re sitting in her kitchen over coffee, being encouraged in your calling as a wife and mother and wrapped in a big hug. This book is rich with truth and encouragement for any woman longing to steward her home for Christ’s glory.”

homemaker and cohost of Date Night with the Woods podcast
Who should read Homemaking Matters
This book was written for Christian women who are seeking to live faithfully in the work God has given them at home.
It’s for the woman who spends her days caring for her home and family and wonders if what she is doing truly matters. It’s for the mom who ends the day tired and begins again the next morning. It’s for the homemaker who desires to honor Christ in her responsibilities, even in the smallest tasks.
It’s for the woman who is learning to trust that God is at work in every part of her day and that nothing done for Him is wasted. And it’s for the Christian woman who wants to live with purpose, grounded in God’s Word, right where He has placed her.
If you’ve wrestled with discouragement or weariness, or struggled to see value in your work at home, my prayer is that this book will point you back to the truth of Scripture. What you do matters because it is done for the Lord, and He is using it for your good and for His glory.

“Women have been often told that the greatest work they will ever do is outside the home. We’ve been fed this lie for so long that, without even meaning to, many of us have come to believe that work outside the home carries the greatest impact and deepest value. But what if we had a generation of women who actually believed our work in the home matters? Would it change how we view folding laundry, making dinner for our family, and the internal struggles we have regarding self-worth? Marci beautifully explains that understanding God’s design for the home changes everything. Homemaking matters for eternity.”

“Homemaking Matters invites readers on a pilgrimage to their own front door and into a space where even preparing a meal is a sacred task. Marci Ferrell reminds her readers that homemaking is set apart for God’s glory and for the good of all who eat at the homemaker’s table or recline in her den, where joyful laughter often mixes with compassionate tears. Inside such a home, spiritual disciplines nestle alongside joy, gratitude, and contentment, and high theology works itself out in practical application. This sacred home is not just for visitors, however, but also for its daily residents. Why? Homemaking matters, that’s why. This is a refreshing book about a sacred calling you really ought to read.”

“Marci has given the church an invaluable gift and resource in her book Homemaking Matters. There is so much confusion as to what true biblical homemaking is. As a wise woman does, Marci shares her wisdom with humility and transparency, never straying from God’s Word or giving in to what the culture says about women in the home. Reading it was like sitting with a precious Titus 2 mentor over coffee. One of the strengths of this book (and there are many) is how Marci deals with what is paramount: the mission and heart of a homemaker. I cannot recommend this book enough. Whether you are single, a young mom, or a seasoned homemaker, you’re going to want to read this book, give it to others, and use it as a frequent discipleship tool to sharpen your own devotion to Christ and the young women entrusted to your care.”

“With Homemaking Matters, Marci Ferrell has written a book that will challenge the weak theological thinking of our day, especially as it pertains to women’s roles.”
