Keeping a Right Heart in Busy Seasons

Inside: God’s peace is not just a future promise, but a present reality that we can experience when we trust Him and surrender our worries to Him.

The Challenge of Busyness

When life gets busy, and the demands on our time start to pile up, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. We find ourselves running from one task to the next, with our hearts heavy and our minds racing. In these moments, God gently reminds us to pause and to seek Him in the midst of the chaos. Life’s busyness can sometimes cloud our ability to remember who holds everything in His hands. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us with these words:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

What a precious reminder that even when we feel like we’re being pulled in a hundred different directions, God calls us to bring everything to Him in prayer—not just the big concerns but all the little ones, too. We can come before Him with thanksgiving, remembering His faithfulness even in the busiest of times.

The Power of Thanksgiving

That “with thanksgiving” part of the verse is such an important reminder for us. When we pause to thank God, even in the overwhelming moments, it shifts our focus. We start to see His hand at work in ways we might have missed. Thanksgiving anchors us, helping us to remember that He has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again. In the hustle of life, thanksgiving serves as a much-needed reset button for our hearts.

Embracing God’s Peace

The beautiful promise in these verses is that God’s peace – the kind that doesn’t always make sense to our hurried minds – will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. It’s a peace that remains, even when the to-do list seems endless. As we turn to Him, we can trust that He is holding us, guiding us, and giving us the strength to keep going. God’s peace is not just a future promise, but a present reality that we can experience when we trust Him and surrender our worries to Him.

When you feel overwhelmed, remember to pause and bring your burdens before the Lord—and don’t forget to thank Him along the way. Lay everything at His feet, trust in His care, and allow His peace to quiet your anxious heart.
