The Kitchen Table | May 9th, 2025
Inside: This week’s Kitchen Table roundup includes encouragement on living with moderation, wisdom for the parenting journey, a favorite reminder to keep pressing forward in the Word, a Bible study tool I’m loving, and a simple but meaningful way I’m spending time in the Gospel of John.

Pull up a chair, friend. Here are a few simple favorites from my week—encouragement for your heart and home.
Articles to Encourage You
The Duty of Moderation @Challies
In a world that constantly pushes us toward excess, I was so reminded through this article of the beauty and wisdom of living with moderation. As Christians, we’re called to enjoy the good gifts God gives us—but within the boundaries He’s set for our good. True contentment isn’t found in having more (or having nothing), but in learning to live wisely and thankfully with what He’s provided.
Wisdom Principles for Christian Parenting @Ligonier Ministries
As I read through this article, I was so encouraged by the reminder that Christian parenting is about faithfully walking with our kids day by day—staying present, building real relationships, and trusting the Lord with the results. It’s easy to get caught up in the immediate struggles, but parenting is a long road, and the small, daily investments we make really do matter. We’re not called to be perfect parents, but to be faithful ones, relying on God’s wisdom and grace every step of the way.

Keep Pressing Forward in the Word & Prayer
As we spend time with the Lord and continue to bring ourselves before Him, He makes us more like Jesus.

Dig Deeper: Tools for Understanding God’s Word by Nigel Beynon & Andrew Sach
I’m currently reading Dig Deeper, and I’m so grateful for how it’s helping me grow in studying God’s Word. It takes what can feel overwhelming—like interpreting poetry or spotting patterns—and gives simple, practical tools to make Bible study more approachable. If you’ve ever wanted to know God better through His Word but didn’t know where to start, this is a resource I highly recommend!

This Week’s Favorite
In the Word – John – I recently started writing out the book of John using this journaling edition, and it’s been such a joy. Having space to add my own notes and reflections alongside the text has made my time in the Word feel more personal and meaningful. It’s a slow, thoughtful way to walk through Scripture—and I’m loving it.

Quote of the Week:
If you are going to remove a speck from someone’s eye, your own eye must be clear. You need to be humble, sympathetic, and so aware of your own sin that when you see it in someone else, you feel like weeping—not condemning.
~ Martyn Lloyd Jones
