Do you ever find yourself having "gospel amnesia"? Gospel Amnesia is when I can find myself forgetting what the Lord has done for me at the Cross and I find myself sinfully complaining about difficult life situations. #trials #trustinggod @mferrell

“Jesus's eyes were on his future joy. He got through the cross by not focusing on the cross but on the promised joy that would result from it. That's where God wants your eyes: on the future joy he has promised you.”

~ Jon Bloom

On today's podcast, we're talking about what it looks like to cultivate a heart of thankfulness in the midst of difficult situations. Do you ever find yourself having “gospel amnesia”? Rick Thomas reminds me we all have it as Christians from time to time. Gospel Amnesia is when I can find myself forgetting what the Lord has done for me at the Cross and I find myself sinfully complaining about difficult life situations. Come to listen in as we learn how with the help of the Lord we can look beyond our circumstances to the God who controls our circumstances.

Show Notes:

“An evidence that our will has been broken is that we begin to thank God for that which once seemed so bitter, knowing that His will is good and that, in His time and in His way, He is able to make the most bitter waters sweet.”

~ Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

[…] Don’t lose focus of the spiritual benefits of illness and trial – it is a time to draw closer to the Lord – to grow in your dependence on Him, and I love the ending of the verse in James – “so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (Take a listen to Trusting God in the Midst of a Trial here) […]

My testimony comes from one who remembers what it was like to be unsaved and seeking an abortion and now coming from the other side of being born again, a new creation in Christ and understanding the beauty of forgiveness and redemption in Christ. ⁣
⁣
No sin is beyond the grace and forgiveness of God, even the sin of abortion. True forgiveness, hope, and healing can only be found, but it is only found in Jesus Christ. ⁣
I pray you'll listen in if you haven't yet. ⁣

Have your doctrinal views, and all your knowledge of Christ, packed away in a handy form so that, when people want to know what you believe, you can tell them. If they wish to know why you believe that you are saved, have your answer all ready in a few plain, simple sentences; and in the gentlest and most modest spirit make your confession of faith to the praise and glory of God.
