Do you ever find yourself having "gospel amnesia"? Gospel Amnesia is when I can find myself forgetting what the Lord has done for me at the Cross and I find myself sinfully complaining about difficult life situations. #trials #trustinggod @mferrell

“Jesus's eyes were on his future joy. He got through the cross by not focusing on the cross but on the promised joy that would result from it. That's where God wants your eyes: on the future joy he has promised you.”

~ Jon Bloom

On today's podcast, we're talking about what it looks like to cultivate a heart of thankfulness in the midst of difficult situations. Do you ever find yourself having “gospel amnesia”? Rick Thomas reminds me we all have it as Christians from time to time. Gospel Amnesia is when I can find myself forgetting what the Lord has done for me at the Cross and I find myself sinfully complaining about difficult life situations. Come to listen in as we learn how with the help of the Lord we can look beyond our circumstances to the God who controls our circumstances.

Show Notes:

“An evidence that our will has been broken is that we begin to thank God for that which once seemed so bitter, knowing that His will is good and that, in His time and in His way, He is able to make the most bitter waters sweet.”

~ Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

[…] Don’t lose focus of the spiritual benefits of illness and trial – it is a time to draw closer to the Lord – to grow in your dependence on Him, and I love the ending of the verse in James – “so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (Take a listen to Trusting God in the Midst of a Trial here) […]

Contentment in our walk as believers is learned, j Contentment in our walk as believers is learned, just as Paul learned it, so do we as we walk this walk with the Lord. It does not come naturally to us. We know deep down the secret to contentment is to keep our eyes on the Lord in every situation. ⁣

"How much misery we would avoid if we permitted “the peace of Christ” to umpire in our hearts. How many words we would hold back if he were the arbitrator in our lives. How many sleepless nights we would forego if we did that. How the Church needs this too, “since as members of one body you were called to peace.”⁣

To be a peacemaker we need to be at peace with God. It starts here. We must no longer be God's enemy. God is the supreme peacemaker and now as his children, we should resemble our Father and be peacemakers.⁣
