EP 176: Time in God’s Word: How Christian Women Make It Work in Every Season
Inside: Real-life glimpses of how 11 Christian women spend time in God’s Word — honest, simple, grace-filled routines for every season. 💛

We all know how important it is to spend time in God’s Word—but what does that actually look like in real life?
This episode of the podcast is extra special to me. I invited eleven dear friends—women I’ve walked alongside in different seasons of life—to share what their time in the Word looks like right now. These women are homemakers, grandmothers, young adults, mamas of many, ministry leaders, caregivers, and everything in between.
Each reflection is honest, personal, and grounded in a love for the Lord. And not one of them points to a perfect routine. They simply point to Jesus.
My prayer is that as you listen in (or read along here), you’ll be encouraged — not with pressure to do more, but with a renewed hunger to open your Bible and meet with the Lord, right where you are. His Word truly is our daily bread and our greatest need.
Listen In for All the Reflections
Each woman’s full reflection is shared in the podcast episode. These weren’t written for performance—many were typed out late at night, or during full days, and every single one comes from a heart that longs to know and love Jesus more.
I’ve put together a special PDF that includes each woman’s full reflection—just a simple way to revisit and be encouraged by these sweet glimpses of real-life time in the Word. You can access it from the free library of resources here. (If you’re already part of the community, simply log in with the password you’ll find at the bottom of any email I’ve sent you.)
Shared Takeaways from These Women’s Reflections
As I gathered these reflections together, a few common threads stood out that may encourage you in your own season:
1. Faithfulness Over Perfection
From Zoe’s honesty about not always meeting her goals to Jen’s reminder that consistency is shaped by grace—not perfect routines—each woman has learned that faithfulness is about returning to God’s Word, not checking a box. Evelyn shared how even on the harder days, she’s learning to ask the Lord to quiet her heart and meet her in His Word.
2. Creativity in the Chaos
Whether it’s Rhonda’s “Battle Box,” Nikky’s bathroom resets, or Miranda reading Scripture with her kids at breakfast, these women have found practical ways to weave God’s Word into their days. Cellina beautifully described how worship music, hymns, and even toddler car naps become part of her walk with the Lord.
3. The Word and Prayer are Inseparable
Several women spoke of how their prayer life flows from their Bible reading. Marsha prays for her family based on what she reads each day. Miyoshi uses the daily verse from TableTalk as a guide for intercession. Denise and her husband start and end each day in prayer, letting Scripture shape their conversations with the Lord.
4. God Meets Us in the Margins
Timi’s early morning breaks at work, Jennifer listening to Scripture through Audible, and Evelyn finding a quiet room when the house is busy all reflect the reality that even a few focused minutes can feed our souls. It doesn’t have to be a perfect setup for God to do His perfect work.
5. Growth in Grace and Maturity
It was such a joy to hear how some of these women have grown over the years in how they approach their time in the Word. Denise shared how she’s learned to let go of legalism and embrace freedom in how and when she reads. Zoe is learning that her value isn’t tied to her performance, and Rhonda has found peace in adapting her routine during a demanding season of caregiving. These reflections remind us that walking with the Lord is just that—a walk. It’s a process of learning, growing, and being shaped by His grace, year after year.
