The end of the year is always a time I review here at the blog and determine what my schedule looks like for next year. It's fun for me to see what the top read posts and listened to podcasts were from the last year. It's been a good help in determining what type of content my readers are interested in. I'm just so thankful for every one of you and have been grateful for your support and friendships over many years here at the blog now. I started this blog in 2010 by the encouragement of my ... continue reading...
Podcast Ep 50: Lessons from the Life of Mary
Sometimes we have heard the Christmas story so often it has lost its impact on us. The Christmas season can have us so busy and tired that we don’t have time to think deeply about the things Mary thought about. I picture Mary looking at sweet little Jesus as she holds Him in her arms and thinking to herself this is God in the flesh. She’s just a young girl, and she has just given birth to the Messiah – the Savior of the world. I think sometimes in our Christian walk when we first meet ... continue reading...
Podcast Ep 49: The Benefits of Abiding in Christ
Many times in my walk as a believer I have heard and read the term "abide in Christ" and didn't have a full understanding of what that meant. Picture this; our Lord had just left the Upper Room in John 13 & 14 where He and the disciples ... continue reading...
Getting to the Heart of Our Idolatry with X-Ray Questions
I have been slowly working through a book by a favorite author of mine, David Powlison called Seeing with New Eyes. One chapter in particular that has held my attention is chapter 7 called X-Ray Questions. In the second section of his book, he defines chapter 7 as exploring what God says he sees when he looks at why we do what we do. Mr. Powlison is asking us the question, "Why? Why do we do what we do, think what we think, feel what we feel, say what we say?" The purpose of these ... continue reading...
Trusting God with the Impossible as Mothers
There's been a book that has been a comfort to me in my walk with the Lord as I parent a prodigal by Ruth Bell Graham called Prodigals and Those Who Love Them: Words of Encouragement For Those Who Wait. Waiting on a prodigal is hard, and this isn't a how-to book but a book of prayers and promises and meditations in the Word for troubled hearts. One section of the book that was a comfort to me and my hope is it will be to you too - whether you have a prodigal or not was the section titled: ... continue reading...
