EP 83: Cousin Camp: Making Memories with Your Grandchildren

by Marci Ferrell
Adult Children Christian Living Grandchildren Motherhood Podcast

This summer, we decided to create a camp experience for our grandkids in our backyard. It was a fun way to create sweet memories with our grandchildren. @mferrell

This summer, we decided to create a camp experience for our grandkids in our backyard. This camp is referred to by Cousin Camp because usually, you're intermingling cousins together. However, our daughter has our only grandchildren, so technically ours wasn't a "cousin camp," but it was still a fun way to create sweet memories with our grandchildren. My husband and I recorded this as a podcast and share much more information in our time together. I encourage you to listen to the ... continue reading...

Trusting God with the Impossible as Mothers

"We mothers must take care of the possible and trust God for the impossible. We are to love, affirm, encourage, teach, listen, and care for the physical needs of the family. @prodigal #prodigalchild @mferrell

There's been a book that has been a comfort to me in my walk with the Lord as I parent a prodigal by Ruth Bell Graham called Prodigals and Those Who Love Them: Words of Encouragement For Those Who Wait. Waiting on a prodigal is hard, and this isn't a how-to book but a book of prayers and promises and meditations in the Word for troubled hearts. One section of the book that was a comfort to me and my hope is it will be to you too - whether you have a prodigal or not was the ... continue reading...

Praying God’s Word Over Our Children

by Marci Ferrell
Adult Children Christian Living Grandchildren Loving Our Children Motherhood Prayer Praying for Our Children

There is no better way to grow in your love for your children than to intercede for them in prayer. @mferrell

“I have so much business I cannot get on without spending three hours daily in prayer.” ~Martin Luther Our children are a gift from the Lord, a heritage, a reward (Psalm 127:3) and they are ever so precious to the Lord and us.  Caring for our children is an immeasurable responsibility but one as believers we are not left alone in or to fend for ourselves.  We can cry out to the One who created all things and is the only One who can redeem them. We must take the time to train them up in ... continue reading...

Waiting on God

I'm finding myself in a waiting room on the Lord, and it has reminded me that when I gave myself to Him I gave up my "right" to be in charge. #waitingonGod #trustingGod @mferrell

I'm finding myself in a waiting room on the Lord, and it has reminded me that when I gave myself to Him I gave up my "right" to be in charge (we never were in charge anyway we just came to that understanding when He opened our eyes to His sovereign control over our lives).  Even though it is a truth we know, how many times do we want to think that somehow we can effect change in our life situations? So, I am learning as the apostle Paul did that the thorn in my flesh is there to keep me ... continue reading...

Have your doctrinal views, and all your knowledge of Christ, packed away in a handy form so that, when people want to know what you believe, you can tell them. If they wish to know why you believe that you are saved, have your answer all ready in a few plain, simple sentences; and in the gentlest and most modest spirit make your confession of faith to the praise and glory of God. Who knows but what such good seed will bring forth an abundant harvest?⁣

I can still pick up a book to read to my grandbabies that I read to my children when they were little and be taken back to those days of sitting with my babies on my lap getting lost in the story. I can hear in those memories the giggles, or surprise or sadness depending on the story in the voices of my children. It's been fun to make new memories with my grandchildren and possibly one day even my great-grandchildren.⁣

Just as we turn the calendar and think about our Bible reading plan for the year, I know many of us think about what books will be on our nightstands, in our cars, suitcases, coffee tables, and on our bookshelves.⁣
